*yawn*

Sitting infront of the com in the computer lab (again). Just came back after lunch with some friends. FEeling really sleepy now. But there's WORK to do!! Ever wonder why we get sleepy after meals?? Here's something to enlighten you:

If you feel sleepy after eating, particularly after sweet or bakery products, you are normal. Eating sugary foods causes your brain to make large amounts of the neurotransmitter, serotonin, that makes people fall asleep naturally at night.

Eating sugary foods or those made from flour, such as bakery products or pastas, causes blood sugar to rise higher than normal. This causes your pancreas to release large amounts of insulin, which drives one of the protein building blocks called tryptophan from your bloodstream into your brain, where it is converted to serotonin that makes you feel sleepy.

Many people can avoid feeling sleepy after eating by restricting foods high in sugar and flour. When it is important for you to be alert, eat foods that do not cause a high rise in blood sugar, such as vegetable salads, nuts, seeds, meat, fish and chicken.
(did i see chicken??? EEEEEeeeEEe...I'll stick to FISHHH!!!)

Hmmm it's also said that eating turkey can make u feel sleepy due to the fact that it contains an essential amino acid with a documented sleep inducing effect called L-tryptophan. It then produces niacin in which produces serotonin which exerts a calming effect and regulates sleep. But not to worry. Eating turkey won't make you a zombie after consuming it because L-tryptophan needs to be taken on an empty stomach and without any other amino acids or protein in order to make you drowsy. Hmmm so maybe when you have trouble sleeping at night, when ur stomach's empty you should eat some turkey!!
